The Joint Operations Command in Iraq announced on Thursday that security forces arrested five suspects involved in the missile attack on Ain Al-Asad air base in western Iraq.

Earlier this week, security forces in Iraq seized a vehicle with a rocket launcher the day after an attack on the western Iraqi air base Ain Al-Asad injured seven US servicemen.

In a statement, the Joint Operations Command declared its opposition to any careless behavior that targets diplomatic missions, Iraqi bases, the locations of the advisors for the international coalition, or anything else that might incite unrest in the region.

A vehicle containing eight missiles out of 10 prepared for launch was seized, and the rocket launcher was dismantled by the concerned authorities.

A security official said that an armed militia affiliated with the Kataeb Hezbollah targeted on Monday Ain Al-Asad airbase.

In a statement to Reuters, two security sources in Iraq said that two Katyusha missiles were fired at Ain Al-Asad airbase in western Iraq, leaving at least five US personnel injured.

US officials revealed that the United States launched an airstrike last week against a base belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in southern Baghdad.

Security and medical sources in Iraq said that four members of the PMF, which includes multiple armed groups linked with Iran, were killed and four others were wounded, according to Reuters.

The PMF confirmed in a statement that some of its members were killed and others were injured after missiles launched from drones targeted its base in northern Babylon (southern Baghdad) on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.

US officials also told Reuters that the strike was directed towards militants who the US believes were attempting to launch drones and constitute a danger to US and coalition forces.
