New York-based peace advocate Mohamed Bahe supports Gaza widow with 3 children
In a heartfelt post on Facebook, New York-based peace advocate Mohamed Bahe shared a moving account of his recent visit to a widow in Gaza, whose life has been shattered by the ongoing conflict.
The widow, who previously worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for a prominent company in Gaza, lost her husband to an airstrike, leaving her to care for their three young children amidst a backdrop of devastation and despair.
Bahe detailed how he provided the widow with $2,000, which he believes will sustain her family for the next five to six months.
The emotional weight of the situation was further underscored when the widow’s daughter innocently inquired about Bahe’s origins.
Upon learning he was American, the little girl expressed a painful truth, asking, “But isn’t America who is giving weapons to kill us?”
Bahe reflected on this poignant moment, admitting it struck a deep chord within him. “It really got to me because my tax dollars are funding the killing of innocent children while my sadaqa (charity) is trying to save them,” he wrote, capturing the paradox of his experience.
In response to the girl’s question, he reassured her, saying, “I’m the good American who cares about children,” which brought a smile to her face, if only for a fleeting moment.
The stark reality for families in Gaza is one of profound loss—children deprived of their innocence, dreams crushed, and a bleak future ahead. Yet, in the midst of this despair, Bahe delivered uplifting news to the widow: he and his friends, along with supporters from his network, would be sponsoring her monthly until it is safe for her family to return home.
Bahe concluded his emotional message by expressing gratitude to all those who have contributed to the cause, stating, “May Allah reward you ALL for donating. I wish you were here to meet these families. It only gives me more hope and strength to continue this work!”
