Iraq, Kuwait review security cooperation

The Iraqi Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, handed over a written message last week from Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani to the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, inviting him to visit the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Al-Shammari said in a press statement that his visit to Kuwait was successful, during which he discussed issues related to residency, the provision of entry visas for Iraqis and Kuwaitis at border crossings, drug trafficking, information sharing, and a unified vision for combating drug trafficking, the Iraqi News Agency reported.

The Iraqi Interior Minister confirmed that his Kuwaiti counterpart will attend the security meeting scheduled for July 22 in the Iraqi capital.

Al-Shammari also indicated that he reviewed border security, combating organized crime, and the memorandum of understanding signed in 2016 between the two countries with Kuwaiti officials.

The Iraqi Minister of Interior, accompanied by a high-level delegation, arrived in the Kuwaiti capital on Sunday for an official visit.
