The 48th Grand Hajj Symposium commenced with an air of unity and purpose as scholars and religious leaders from across the Islamic world gathered to discuss the theme: “Observing the Religious Permissions and Adhering to the Established Regulations in Hajj Ritual.”

The event, which emphasizes making the pilgrimage accessible and manageable for all participants, saw significant contributions from notable figures within the Islamic community.

Dr. Taufiq Al-Rabiah, the Minister of Hajj & Umrah, delivered the welcome speech, highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to facilitating a smooth and spiritually enriching Hajj experience for every pilgrim.

“Our efforts are dedicated to ensuring global cooperation among pilgrims and their adherence to the teachings of performing Hajj with comfort and ease,” Dr. Al-Rabiah stated.

The symposium featured a keynote address by the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, relayed by H. E. Sheikh Dr. Fahad Al-Majid. The speech underscored the importance of following established religious guidelines to enhance the spiritual journey of the pilgrims.

Adding to the discourse, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, representing the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, stressed the significance of embracing religious concessions provided in Islam to ease the performance of Hajj rites.

He illustrated this with examples such as shortening the four-part prayer to two and combining certain prayers during specific times for pilgrims.

Leading the Nigerian delegation was  the Operations Commissioner for National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju, who stood in for the Chairman/CEO.

He emphasized the symposium’s importance and assured that its valuable messages would be communicated to Nigerian pilgrims through their respective States’ Pilgrims Welfare Agencies, Boards, and Commissions.

The Grand Hajj Symposium continues to be a pivotal platform for enhancing the Hajj experience, promoting religious adherence, and fostering global unity among Muslims.
