SWCC achieves nine Guinness World Records

The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) has solidified its position as a global leader in the desalination sector by attaining nine new Guinness World Records.

SWCC, renowned as the world’s top producer of desalinated water, boasting a daily output exceeding 11.5 million cubic meters, has garnered accolades that underscore its groundbreaking contributions across various water projects.

The ceremony, attended by esteemed dignitaries including the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, and SWCC Governor, Eng. Abdullah Al-Abdulkarim, celebrated SWCC’s achievements. These include operating the world’s largest desalination plant at Ras Al-Khair, with a staggering daily production capacity of nearly 3 million cubic meters. Additionally, SWCC was recognized for hosting the world’s largest covered water reservoir, the largest drinking water storage facility at the Briman Strategic Water Reservoir, and the largest covered drinking water storage facility in Riyadh.

Furthermore, SWCC’s accomplishments extend to operating the largest piped water transmission system for water desalination, the largest mobile desalination plant, the largest multi-effect distillation desalination unit, and the largest network of water reservoirs for drinking water storage. Notably, SWCC achieved a world record for the lowest desalination energy consumption, demonstrating efficiency with less than 2.271 kWh per cubic meter.

Eng. Abdullah Al-Abdulkarim emphasized the significance of these records in reaffirming SWCC’s pioneering role in the desalination industry and its commitment to future advancements. He credited the corporation’s success to strategic initiatives focused on enhancing business efficiency, integrating cutting-edge technologies, and advancing capabilities, all under the guidance of Saudi Arabia’s leadership.

These achievements underscore SWCC’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of the desalination industry, showcasing Saudi leadership on the global stage. They come shortly after SWCC’s consecutive recognition for Local Content, highlighting the corporation’s commitment to development, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.

Eng. Al-Abdulkarim expressed gratitude for the support of the leadership, acknowledging the significant milestones achieved and their contribution to the national economy. He emphasized SWCC’s ongoing commitment to economic and social advancement, ensuring water security remains a cornerstone for the future.
