Iraqi Foreign Minister engages in talks with IAEA Director General on peaceful uses of Atomic Energy

Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, engaged in discussions on Monday with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi. The high-level meeting, hosted at the IAEA’s headquarters in Vienna, centered around exploring prospects for cooperation to advance Iraq’s developmental goals, specifically in the realm of peaceful applications of atomic energy.

According to an official statement released by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Minister Hussein underscored the critical importance of establishing positive and collaborative ties with the IAEA. Emphasizing Iraq’s commitment to fostering a peaceful and healthy society, he stressed the pivotal role that positive international relationships, particularly with regional nations, play in achieving these objectives.

During the discussions, Minister Hussein extended an invitation to Director General Grossi to visit Iraq in the near future. The purpose of the visit is to bolster cooperation between Iraq and the IAEA, solidifying their commitment to harnessing atomic energy for peaceful purposes within the country.
