Saudi Arabia urges immediate ceasefire in Gaza at non-aligned movement summit
Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eng. Waleed Al-Khereiji, conveyed the nation’s unwavering stance against Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip during his address at the 19th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement in Kampala, Uganda.
Representing Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Al-Khereiji called for an urgent ceasefire, humanitarian aid delivery, and the prevention of forced displacement in Gaza.
In his speech, Al-Khereiji conveyed the greetings of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the summit participants. Emphasizing the ongoing Palestinian crisis, Al-Khereiji asserted that discussions around this issue would persist in key meetings until an independent Palestinian state is established on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, aligning with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Highlighting the global surge in conflicts threatening state sovereignty and stability, Al-Khereiji stressed the need for collective efforts to achieve peace. He addressed escalating climate conditions worldwide and underscored Saudi Arabia’s commitment to environmental initiatives. The Saudi and Middle East Green Initiatives were mentioned as part of efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with the objectives outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030.
The summit witnessed the presence of Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, and Saudi Ambassador to Uganda, Jamal Al-Madani. As Saudi Arabia continues to advocate for peace and stability in the region, its diplomatic efforts at the Non-Aligned Movement Summit reflect the nation’s commitment to addressing pressing global issues.
