Members of the Ministerial Committee, appointed by the Riyadh-hosted Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit and led by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan, engaged in a formal meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Ottawa.

The delegation included Palestine Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad Al-Malki and Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan. The focal point of the discussions centered on unfolding events and concerning developments in the Gaza Strip, with particular attention to the military escalation against unarmed civilians.

The committee stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire to reinstate security and stability in the region. Underlining the imperative for swift international action, the committee called on the global community to fulfill its responsibilities in safeguarding civilians from actions by the Israeli occupation, condemning violence against unarmed civilians.

Emphasizing that deliberations about the future of Gaza and the broader Palestinian cause should follow an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation of military tensions, the committee highlighted the necessity of taking serious and immediate measures to establish humanitarian corridors for the delivery of relief assistance into Gaza.

Expressing strong opposition to any restrictions on aid entry to the Strip, the committee firmly rejected any discussions about the Gaza Strip separate from the broader Palestinian cause. Additionally, they underscored the importance of fostering a genuine political environment to pave the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.”
