The decision was made during a closed-door meeting of the Bureau International des Expositions in Paris, where Riyadh garnered 119 votes out of 165. In contrast, Rome received 17 votes, and Busan received 29. Saudi Arabia’s comprehensive promotional campaign, featuring large-scale advertising in Paris and the ‘Riyadh 2030’ installation near the Eiffel Tower, contributed significantly to the success of the bid.
