In a significant stride towards sustainable transportation, Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) has unveiled the nation’s inaugural hydrogen truck, a collaborative effort with Almajdouie Logistics. This experimental launch aligns with TGA’s dedication to realizing the carbon emission-free goals outlined in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Emphasizing the truck’s pivotal role in achieving the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics, the TGA underscores its commitment to sustainable development initiatives in Saudi Arabia. Notably, the hydrogen truck boasts zero carbon emissions, aligning with the Kingdom’s ambitious environmental targets.

Engineered to meet stringent safety standards, the truck has the capability to cover extensive distances exceeding 400 km, running exclusively on hydrogen fuel with a capacity of up to 35 kg and a gas pressure of 350 bar. This innovative transport solution is a result of a strategic partnership between Almajdouie Logistics and Air Products Qudra Company, aiming to provide comprehensive integration solutions for hydrogen trucks’ operation and fueling.

As part of this strategic collaboration, Almajdouie Logistics and Air Products Qudra Company will oversee the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of hydrogen-related infrastructure, including refueling stations across various locations in Saudi Arabia. This initiative aligns with Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative, demonstrating a commitment to building a robust ecosystem for hydrogen transportation within the Kingdom.

With the issuance of the first operational card for hydrogen trucks by Almajdouie Company through the Naql e-platform, the goals include ensuring adherence to all conditions, providing technical requirements, and enhancing efficiency and service quality in the logistics sector. This move also contributes to traffic and public safety while advancing the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics goals.

This landmark inauguration extends TGA’s embrace of modern and innovative technologies in the transportation system, following the issuance of the first operating license for a carbon emission-free hydrogen train to “SAR”. This eco-friendly approach underscores TGA’s commitment to human and environmentally friendly transportation means, aiming to enhance the quality of life and reduce carbon emissions by 25% by 2030, as outlined in the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics.
