MHRSD signs 4 labor agreements with Gambia, Tanzania
In a significant development at the Saudi-African Economic Conference in Riyadh, the Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor, Dr. Abdullah Abu Thnain, has inked four pivotal labor agreements with Gambia and Tanzania.
The Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment, Baboucarr Ousmaila Joof, represented Gambia, while Tanzania was represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, January Yusuf Makamba.
The agreements, aimed at fostering cooperation and regulating the recruitment of both public and domestic workers, establish a framework between the governments of Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, and The Gambia. The primary objectives include ensuring legal recruitment processes, safeguarding the rights of workers and employers, and overseeing the effective implementation of these agreements to serve the interests of all parties involved.
To facilitate the execution and address any challenges, a joint technical committee will be established. This committee will monitor obstacles, resolve difficulties, and coordinate efforts to ensure optimal application of the agreements.
Against the backdrop of the Saudi-Arab-African Economic Forum, designed to strengthen the Saudi, Arab, and African partnership in economic and investment domains, the signing ceremony attracted leaders, decision-makers, and officials from Saudi Arabia, Arab and African countries. The forum featured participation from financial, business, and investment leaders in both the public and private sectors, as well as representatives from trade associations, international organizations, academia, and think tanks.
This move aligns with the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to diversify recruitment sources for domestic and professional workers in the Saudi labor market. It underscores the broader objective of reinforcing developmental and economic ties with African nations.
