UAE’s Minister of State strengthens ties with Iraq in high-level visit

The Minister of State for the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, embarked on a diplomatic mission to the heart of Iraq, reinforcing the deepening relations between the two nations. His visit marked a significant milestone as he led the Emirati delegation in the momentous meeting of the Iraqi-Emirati Joint Committee.

Iraq’s Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, extended a warm welcome to Minister Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar upon his arrival in the Iraqi capital. Through a tweet from his official account, Minister Hussein shared, “I welcomed in Baghdad the Emirati Minister of State, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, and we opened the 10th session of the Iraqi-Emirati Joint Committee.”

During the productive discussions, both nations emphasized the pivotal importance of fortifying their bilateral relations and fostering closer cooperation across governmental and private sectors. Minister Hussein elaborated, “We stressed the need to strengthen our bilateral relations and mutual coordination between our governmental and private sectors.”

The talks also centered on tackling shared challenges, including global and regional issues such as climate change and food security. Minister Hussein highlighted the commitment of both nations to addressing these critical concerns on a cooperative front, underlining their collective dedication to a sustainable and secure future. “Al Marar and his accompanying delegation were received earlier on Tuesday by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hisham Al-Alawi, who expressed that this visit provides a valuable opportunity to explore avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields,” he stated.
