Saudi-Pakistan agreement enhances pilgrim flights, reduces costs
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have solidified their commitment to enhancing travel opportunities for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, unveiled a new accord between the two nations aimed at increasing flight frequencies and reducing expenses for pilgrims from Pakistan.
During a four-day official visit, a prominent Saudi delegation, led by Minister Al-Rabiah, arrived in Pakistan on Sunday. The delegation’s visit culminated in the opening of the Nusuk Exhibition in Karachi, a major southern port city, on Tuesday.
“In a joint press conference attended by Pakistan’s Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Aneeq Ahmed, Minister Al-Rabiah underscored the significance of the Nusuk platform. This innovative system streamlines the processes for pilgrims, granting them the autonomy to choose accommodations and related services, thereby simplifying their journey”.
“The Nusuk platform holds the promise of expediting Umrah visa issuance, with the possibility of extending the visa period from 30 to 90 days. Minister Al-Rabiah expressed the ambition to transform Umrah into an unforgettable historical and cultural experience, enabling Pakistani pilgrims to explore various regions in Saudi Arabia”.
“The forthcoming Nusuk Exhibition, set to launch in Karachi, will witness the participation of numerous Saudi and Pakistani tourist and Umrah companies. This event highlights the burgeoning ties between the two nations and their concerted efforts to enhance pilgrimage experiences”.
“Minister Al-Rabiah emphasized the historical nature of his visit, driven by the close collaboration fostered under the guidance of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. Their collaboration has already borne fruit, propelling the number of Pakistani Umrah pilgrims to exceed one million last year”.
“During the visit, discussions centered on enhancing facilities for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, as well as expanding the Makkah Road project to encompass additional Pakistani cities. The Saudi delegation engaged in extensive deliberations with senior Pakistani leaders, including the President, Caretaker Prime Minister, and Chief of Army Staff”.
“Amid warm receptions at the airport by Minister Aneeq Ahmed and Saudi Ambassador Nawaf Al-Maliki, the Saudi delegation—comprising representatives from various government departments—underscored the enduring bond between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The deliberations hold potential for increasing Pakistan’s Hajj quota based on the nation’s latest census, further enriching the pilgrimage experience for all”.
