Yemeni American Community elder fatally shot in New York City
Tragic news emerged from New York City as a member of the Yemeni American Community (YAC) was fatally shot.
Yahey Obeid, who shared the devastating incident on his Facebook page, revealed that the elder was walking on the road when he fell victim to a stray bullet.
“He lost his life due to an unfortunate stray bullet while out for his regular walk. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family,” Obeid expressed.
The authorities swiftly responded to the incident, apprehending the shooter in the vicinity of 94th Street in Queens.
Richard Greco conveyed his condolences, expressing deep sorrow for the family and friends of the Yemen community, particularly those residing in the Little Yemen Community of Morris Park, Bronx.
Mohamed Ahmed Al-Ward also offered his sympathies, praying for the departed elder’s soul to find eternal peace in heaven. “Our sincere condolences to his family and friends,” Al-Ward wrote.
Yemeni Americans are individuals of Yemeni heritage who have made their home in the United States. As of 2010, it was estimated that over 100,000 Yemenis resided in the country.
