Police removed a pit bull from an apartment after a child was found deceased on Lincoln Place and Franklin Ave. in Brooklyn on Sunday.

The 9-year-old girl was found dead with head trauma and bite marks.

Following a 911 call from the girl’s mother, police arrived at about 1 p.m. finding Shalom Guifarro’s body in an apartment on Lincoln Place near Franklin Ave. in Crown Heights.

Police and sources said Shalom had evidence of trauma to her head and bite marks on her back.

Shalom lived in the apartment with a sister and her mother. A family friend described the mother as extremely protective of her children. Neighbors said the family, who has lived in the apartment for about two years, had two dogs, including a pit bull.

Police carried out two dogs in cages from the four-story apartment building later Sunday afternoon.

Neighbors credited the mother as strict and saw the children as extremely well-mannered.

New York City Medical Examiner will determine Shalom’s cause of death.

There were no immediate arrests.
