Officials condemn gun attack at Buffalo grocery store
Not less than ten people have been killed and three more wounded when a man opened fire at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York.
Disclosing this on Saturday May 14, 2022, police stated that the shooter has been remanded in custody.
“The shooter has been charged with murder in what officials are calling a hate crime and a case of racially motivated violent extremism,” the police said.
The authorities noted that the man’s action was “a straight-up racially motivated hate crime from somebody outside of our community.”
According to a report, the gunman, during the attack, appeared in body armor and military-style clothing.
For at least two minutes, he broadcast the shooting live on the streaming platform Twitch before the service ended his transmission.
Police, however, confirmed that the gunman shot 11 Black and two White vitlctims before surrendering to police.
Speaking at the scene of the attack, the New York State Governor, Kathy Hochul, expressed hope that the perpetrator of the evil act will spend the rest of his life behind the bar.
“It is my sincere hope that this individual, this white supremacist who just perpetrated a hate crime on an innocent community, will spend the rest of his days behind bars. And heaven help him in the next world as well,” Hochul said.
The suspected gunman was identified as Payton S. Gendron, of Conklin, New York, about 200 miles (320 kilometers) southeast of Buffalo.
