Presidential Election: Gambians react as President Barrow calls for voter registration

The Gambians have reacted to President Adama Barrow’s call for voter registration in preparation for the next elections.

As the country begins voter registration, which is an important part of the electoral process, the president, via his Facebook page on Saturday May 29, 2021, urged the citizens to register to vote.

“As a government, the political will is 100 per cent, that we conduct free and fair elections,” Barrow said.

He added, “Africa and the entire world is looking up to The Gambia and 2021 is a very important year for this country. Get registered and vote.”

The citizens have, however, expressed mixed reactions to the president’s willingness to contest in the next elections.

A Gambian, Mussa Toray, wrote, “Allah knows good leader sir as you are good and honest you will make great win this election.”

Another Gambian, Ebrima Jobe, said, “This is the only weapon that brought you to our National house December 2016 and will be the same thing in December 4th 2021. In Sha Allah we will vote you out In Sha Allah.”

Alargie Jarju reacted that “If barrow tries to bring in non Gambians from the two Guineas and Senegal for voter registration, it would destabilize our country and he would be held responsible. We are watching.”

Spear Jatta, another Gambian citizen, commented that Barrow need not telling the Gambians to register. He stressed that he will not the election.

“No need for you to tell us. We will register massively to vote you out of our state house and Insallah come December 04 Ajindi is a Most,” Jatta said.
