Council Member Andy King holds annual back to school giveaway

Council Member Andy King apongside The Bronx Youth Empowerment Program held their Annual Back to School Giveaway Event on Saturday September 26, 2020.

The event was organized at Gun Post Lanes (bowling alley in the Bronx), with social distancing, masks and sanitizing well adhered to.

The annual event emphasizes the importance of education, whether it is remote and/or in class.

Andy King commenting on the turnout of the event, said, “The turnout was amazing but more importantly to see students from the 12th district along with their parents enjoy a day of free bowling and lunch, as well as receive school supplies made it so much more a fulfilling and successful day!”

He acknowledged the partner who provided the giveaways.

According to Andy, the community partners were Montefiore Hospital, National Action Network, STAGG Group, American Cancer Society, One Hundred Black Men, Local 100 Black Construction Workers, Workmen’s Circle Multicare, Eastchester Chrysler, Good Shepherd Services, Fresh Direct, and B.R.A.G.

Others who provided foods were McDonald, White Castle, and Chef K of Karibbean Flavaz.

NYPD was also present as representatives from the Census.
