India opens Taj Mahal despite increasing COVID-19 rates
India has opened the famous Taj Mahal to tourists with COVID-19 safety guidelines.
The country’s authority announced this on September 21, 2020.
India has started opening public spaces under the fourth round of easing the restrictions called Unlock-4.
As a result, the 17th-century white marble mausoleum built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the city of Agra opened its doors to tourists.
Vasant Kumar Swarnkar, superintending archaeologist of the Archaeological Survey of India said, “Only 5,000 tourists will be allowed each day. Masks are mandatory to enter the monument and strict restrictions on group photography,”
Date revealed from the health ministry state d that, India recorded 86,961 new COVID-19 cases and 1,130 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The confirmed cases toll now stands at 5.4 million, including 87,882 deaths with a 1.6% mortality rate.
