Nigeria: Islamic Cooperative Society establishes gender-based ultramodern hospital

As-Salam, an Islamic Cooperative Society in Ikirun, State of Osun, Nigeria, has established a new ultramodern hospital in the state.

This was disclosing in a report signed by the hospital working team led by Dr. Isamotu, the Chief Medical Director of Ayo-olu Hospital Ikirun.

According to the report, the establishment of the hospital is aimed at providing health care services for the people of the community so as to have access to robust qualitative health care services that are accessible and affordable to all people within the community.

The hospital, which evolved from As-Salem C.I.C.U LTD Ikirun, is an intervention targeted towards protection and prornotion of good health among the people.

“The establishment of the hospital is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the year 2015 designed to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all which is intended to be achieved by the year 2030.

“Promotion of good health and well-being, one of the goals, is the hallmark of the idea behind creation of As-Salam Hospital Ikirun,” the report states.

While speaking at the Inauguration of the hospital, His Royal Majesty, Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdul Rasheed Olabomi, applauded the Cooperative Society for the wonderful initiative.

The royal father stated that it is not news that hospitals have been built and commissioned in many parts of the state.

As-Salam Hospital

According to him, what is newsworthy is that a co-operative society especially Islamic co-operative is establishing a hospital.

“We are all gathered here today to witness the making of history in our dear state,” he said.

He congratulated this society for the giant stride.

Olabomi added that As-Salam Co-operative society must have been very thoughtful before conceiving the idea of the project.

He stressed that it should not have been pure economic motive.

He stated further that the experience of Muslims, especially the female ones who often have no choice but to be attended to by male doctors, male nurses and other male health professionals against the norm in Islam makes the establishment of As-Salam hospital very critical and important.

“With this hospital in full functioning capacity, there is no doubting the fact that’ square pegs would be in square holes,” he said.

The following services are provided by the hospital: curative services, preventive services, special service, pregnancy, statistics for proper management and evaluation of the health care services within the community and heath education.

In order to efficiently provide the services mentioned above, the hospital has the following resources: money, man-power, Materialsand and Management.

A carefully selected health personnel of different categories and cadres have been recruited to form a team.

The team is to be supervised by the Chief Medical Director and be supported by a seasoned administrator with emphasis on health matters.
