Covid-19: Saudi Arabia records 90% recovery

Saudi health officials have announced that ninety percent of COVID-19 patients in the country have recovered.

The health ministry said the latest batch of 4,526 recoveries represented more than the number of new daily cases in the Kingdom, despite a spike in the infection rates that stand at over 300,000 cases.

With the Tuesday’s report, Saudi Arabia has recorded a total of 272,911 recoveries, maintaining momentum over figures for newly confirmed cases.

Recoveries on Tuesday included Riyadh with the highest number of recoveries at 1,439, while Jeddah and Dammam reported 877 and 275 respectively.

The health authorities said that preventive measures and health protocols introduced to limit the spread of COVID-19 played a key role in containing the infection rates.

A Hong Kong-based consortium, Deep Knowledge Group said Saudi Arabia ranked 17th among the top 20 safest countries in the world during the COVID-19 pandemic, as contained in their regional safety assessment analysis.

The Kingdom has increased the number of hospital intensive care beds across the country, as part of the efforts to flatten the curve of the infections.

With the 1,409 new cases reported on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia has recorded a total number of 301,323 cases.

Officials said 24,942 were active cases, with 1,716 patients in a critical condition.

Hail reported highest number of daily confirmed cases at 81, Riyadh reported 64, and Al-Hofuf 62.

The Kingdom has recorded 3,470 deaths from the coronavirus pandemic so far, including the 34 new deaths reported on Tuesday.

As it stands, Saudi Arabia has conducted 4,378,417 COVID-19 tests, and 60,712 polymerase chain reaction tests have carried out in the latest 24-hour period, as part of efforts to detect the virus early enough.
