FBI captures fugitive 46 years after escaping from prison.

The FBI has on Wednesday August 6, 2020, captured a 77 year old who has been labeled wanted for 46 years after he escaped from prison.

Luis Archuleta who was 31 years old when he escapee from a Denver prison have been living under another name for more than 40 years in New Mexico.

Luis, who is now known as Larry Pusateri, was jailed for assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon and for shooting a Denver Officer, who survived in 1973.

Luis escapee from Colorado Department of Corrections facility in 1974. He immediatdly changed his alias to Ramon Montoya in Espanola and thus escaped arrest whne federal arrest warrant was issued.

FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge, Michael Schneider said in a statement that “This arrest should send a clear signal to violent offenders everywhere: The FBI will find you, no matter how long it takes or how far you run, and we will bring you to justice.”

“I want to thank the Española Police Department for working closely with the FBI Denver and Albuquerque Divisions on this investigation and getting this dangerous fugitive off the streets,” he added.

Denver Police Chief, Paul Pazen also said that “Many members our community were hurt by Luis Archuleta’s actions… The passing of time does not erase or excuse his crimes.”

According to the FBI, Luis would be extradited back to Colorado.

“We are grateful to all of our law enforcement partners who helped bring Mr. Archuleta back to Colorado to serve his sentence for this serious crime,” said Dean Williams, Executive Director of Colorado Department of Corrections, said in a statement.

“We hope that this arrest will help bring some peace to the victim in this case,” he concluded.
