Muslim Coalition Against COVID-19 concludes 2nd Phase of palliative distribution to Nigerians
Muslim Coalition Against COVID-19 has concluded the second phase of its palliative distribution.
The second phase of the palliative distribution covered 861 households in Gombe, Kwara, Kano and Ebonyi States.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by its Chairman, Publicity Committee, Alh. Moshood Wasiu Abiola on Sunday July 26, 2020.
According to the statement, the Coalition concluded its latest distribution exercise to 4 states of the federation on July 20.
It will be recalled that the Coalition had during its pilot scheme phase distributed palliatives to Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Rivers and FCT where it reached out to more than 1700 Nigerian households.
In this 2nd phase, the target states and the number of beneficiaries include Gombe (150 households), Kwara (230 households), Ebonyi (165 households) and Kano (316 households).
“The palliatives were distributed to all Nigerians, irrespective of faiths, tribe and ethnic background,” the statement reads.
“Each pack of the palliatives contains rice, beans, garri and maize.
The distribution was carried out in strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols and guidelines,” it adds.
It was reported that this 2nd phase is part of the ongoing implementation of the relief efforts of the Coalition’s Comprehensive Response Plan to COVID-19.
The Coordinator/Convener, Disu Kamor, Executive Chairman of Muslim Public Affairs Centre, reaffirmed the coalition’s will to intensively support the nation’s efforts against COVID-19 and assist in relieving the impacts on the most vulnerable.
“It is important to recognize the amazing efforts of the Coalition’s frontline workers who have ensured that donors’ and partners’ gifts arrive at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries in a safe and secure manner.
“The exemplary efforts of our committees and local coordinators to ensure timely and flawless delivery are good examples of the traditions of sacrifice and selflessness in the service of others,” he said.
Kamor stated that the Coalition relies on the teachings of Islamic faith to demonstrate indiscriminate compassion to fellow citizens, based on the model of Prophet Muhammad.
“Starting from the pilot scheme, the successes of the coalition’s work are clearly showing what’s possible when we are united in intention, purpose and actions.
“We are joining hands with other citizens to extend the safety net of care and support to those in need, the orphans, widows, those living with disabilities and others who rely on the services such as the ones we provide to meet their essential daily needs,” he stated.
He continued, “As we look ahead to achieve more and reach more states in the country during this trying period, we continue to rely on the generous donations and solemn prayers of all and sundry.
“The coalition desires to continue to offer regular supports to those in need and support the Government’s efforts in other areas until the war on the epidemic is finally won in sha Allah.”
Alhaji Abiola Abduwasiu, the Coalition’s Publicity Committee Chairman, appeals to Nigerians to comply with social distancing regulations and observe other safety measures to help in the effort to flatten the curve.
“Safety campaign messages are actively promoted on the Coalition’s social media platforms to provide reliable and up-to-date information on best practices and safe methods during the pandemic,” he said.
He emphasized the need to exemplify these good and safe practices during the relief materials distribution exercises and at all times.
“The use of PPE in particular for our frontline workers is mandatory during our official engagements.
“This is in compliance with the safe practice and requirements of our distribution efforts policy and also as a compliance with the government regulations.
“It is easier to mitigate the hard impacts of the epidemic when we join ranks and collaborate. Together, we shall win the war against COVID-19. In sha Allah,” he added.
