Kuwait resumes test for expatriates against coronavirus infection

Kuwait has begun medical check-up for expatriates with the reopening of small-scale testing centres in order to ensure full compliance with the coronavirus safety measures.

While disclosing this on Saturday July 11, 2020, public health director, Dr Fahd Al-Ghimlas, said the first phase of easing lockdown in the Arab country would enable expatriate workers register online for medical check-up of 30 percent capacity requirement.

Upon registration online, expatriate workers will be directed to the nearest health care centres from their home addresses or workplaces with an option of selecting preferred testing schedules from the available times.

While ensuring that there is full compliance with the safety measures, Kuwait has provided four testing centres in Shukwaikh, Sabhan, Fahaheel and Jahra.

Kuwaiti local authorities recently closed not less than 122 shops for failing to comply with the health standards and social distancing rules during their business operations.

Municipality director Ahmad Al-Manfouhsi said a Friday market, a large supermarket at Mirqab, a furniture company at a mall were among shops sanctioned by the local authorities.

Official had previously sealed off 113 shops before 30 June phase two of implementing easing of Kuwait’s coronavirus lockdown.

With a population of nearly 4.3 million, Kuwait has recorded 54,058 cases and 386 deaths from the coronavirus pandemic.
