Harvard resorts to online classes amidst Covid-19 outbreak

Harvard, an Ivy League university has considered virtual classes amidst concern for the continuous spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The virtual classes which begin in March 23rd would entail all courses offered by the graduate and undergraduate students of the university.

In a public message posted on the university’s twitter handle, Larry Bacow, the President of the university said,
“Harvard will begin transitioning to virtual instructions for graduate and undergraduate classes”

The university resort to virtual classes is as a result of the coronavirus outbreak and such adjustment is necessary to follow suit as other educational institutions have, due to the global outbreak adopted virtual classes.

Typical examples are Columbia and Princeton universities. Princeton is set to start online classes on March 23 while Columbia University has suspended classes for two days after it as learned that a person who in some ways is linked to the university has been exposed to the Covid-19 virus.

In a sincere attempt to contain the spread of the outbreak, Harvard has also strongly disapproved of any meeting of 25 or more number of attendants especially those meeting that are of little or no significance.

Bascow also stated that the past few weeks have been challenging for the university but it is a test of how connected and cooperative everyone in the university is and how their actions of today would tell of what happens in the future – “tomorrow”.

“These past few weeks have been a powerful reminder of just how connected we are to one another – and how our choices today determine our options tomorrow,” Bascow remarked.
