Heavyweight Champion hails President Buhari, pledges support for Nigeria
World heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, has expressed his readiness to support Nigeria anytime he’s needed to do so.
This was expressed yesterday at a meeting held in the United Kingdom with the President, Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Joshua was the center of attraction at the meeting.
“The President congratulated the current World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Anthony Joshua, who was the cynosure of all eyes during the meeting, on regaining his world championship belt, as well as putting Nigeria on the world map again like Hogan Bassey,” he said.
While presenting his belts to the President, Joshua pledged his support for Nigeria anytime he is needed.
“I am always ready to support my country anytime the need arises,” Joseph pledged.
The meeting, which was coordinated by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, was attended by a group of Nigerian community in the United Kingdom.
After presenting his heavyweight belts to the President, he prostrated himself to honour him.
Joshua’s action attracted accolades from the president’s aides and his family members, who attended the meeting.
