Yousuf Deedat, South African Muslim scholar shot dead
Yousuf Deedat, who was shot in the head on Wednesday, was the son of late Ahmed Deedat.
The South African Muslim scholar was shot in the head by an unknown gunmen outside the Verulam Family Court on Wednesday in Durban South Africa.
Yousuf Deedat, 66, died at St Anne’s hospital in Pietemaritzburg on Friday afternoon after dictors had fought for two days to save his life.
His death was confirmed in a statement by his son, Raees Deedat.
“Mr Yousuf deedat, a leading Muslim scholar and activist passed away at the St Anne’s hospital at 14:40pm this afternoon, Friday 17th January.
“He was fatally wounded on Wednesday when he was he was shot by an unknown gunman in Verulam,” the statement reads.
According to Raees, the funeral arrangement for the deceased scholar and activist has been fixed.
“The funeral prayer will be held at the Verulam Wick Street after the morning prayer, Fajr Salaah, at 4:20am. This will be followed by the prayer and burial at the Verual cemetery,” he said.
