KNOW WHERE YOUR GENEROSITY AND ENERGY ARE INVESTED! THERE ARE MADISON AVENUE INITIATIVES AND THERE ARE MOTHER THRESAS INITIATIVES.

In every community, there are initiatives launched purported to be communal benefit. Yet, some are established as fundraising tools, political ladders, resume building, or genuine mission to address a particular concern or to improve quality of life.

So, how can a benefactor or volunteer differentiates one from the other? Pay attention to the initiative’s MAIN FOCUS.

In the former, they worship persons (leadership), resources and appearance. The more resources that come in the more their personalities and appearances improved. And when resources dried out, negative publicity percolating, or sacrifices required, they shut their enterprise down and move to a new scheme.

As for the latter, their commitment is to the articulated mission, and the more resources they acquire the better improved the causes become. To them it’s never about personality contest or self-serving scheme, but it’s rather a mission-driven worthy of their sacrifices regardless of who are in charge or who looks good in the public eyes.  These are the ones that make long term differences and therefore worthy of support.

Obviously, something is fishy when tens of organizations have overlapping missions in a small community and working together to maximize the outcome.
