Bronx, New York -Judd Rose stated, “With power comes the abuse of power, and where there are bosses, there are crazy bosses.” It’s nothing new. While the process for the 2018 electoral campaigning begins, we are seeing Bronx politicians fuming to lead a campaign of racial transparency. But why now? For decades Bronx constituents have been lied to on adequate funding and developments from education, housing, health, public safety etc. and have cast their blame on gang violence or not enough resources. $ 1.9 Billion is owed to NYC Public Schools but how is it they can find $103 million for the Kingsbridge Armory or better yet $ 108 Billion to transform the South Bronx.

Who are they transforming? Bronx County representatives are more inclined to support charter schools, developers and political affiliation to construct more deals than support the reality of what is being neglected; resources for employment opportunities, providing services to the borough that has the highest level of high school students living under homelessness,  single mothers with children under 5 living under the worst condition of poverty, and the borough projected to have the highest residents displacement in the state in the next 5 years in addition to ranking 62nd out of 62 New York State counties in health metrics.

Choosing a racial transparency campaign or promises meaningful change is just another side bar political tactic being used to manipulate Bronx residents from the reality of persistent disparities under its Black and Brown political leaders who make deals that are not in the best interest of their constituents.
