Over 1000 Nigerian youths undergo empowerment training to reduce unemployment rate

Nigerian government recently organised empowerment training for unemployed youths in the country. This is a tactical way to reduce the high rate of unemployment and also to further increase the standard of living of the people. Reports confirmed that the programme lasted for three months with incredible empowerment packages.

In addition, the youths, after the programme which lasted for three months, were trained on different skills that will generate income for them. The ceremonial event held on Thursday in Kano State and was attended by the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and senior government officials in the state.

Speaking with one of the participants, Aisha Bada, she explained that the programme has empowered her in different ways and hope she earn a living from all she has acquired:
” this programme is a first of its kind. I really want to appreciate the organisers of the programme. It has really empowered me personally. With the skills I have acquired, I should be able to earn a living from it. More of this should come from the government and private bodies.”

To also tackle the high unemployment rate in the country, the Federal Government of Nigeria has designed an empowerment programme tagged N-Power Programme to drastically reduce youth unemployment. This programme has provided jobs to thousands of people in the country. This is to confirm that the federal government is working really hard to curb the increase of unemployment in the country.

Nigerian government has launched series of empowerment initiatives. These initiatives are youth empowered programmes designed to support young Nigerian graduates and undergraduates to build life skills, business skills and long-lasting networks to transition to meaningful employment or to start a business. The goal is to empower them with the skills needed to succeed in the workplace and business environment.

In addition, the Federal Government financial commitment to these trainings, empowerment and employment of unemployed youths in Nigeria is said to have risen by 80 per cent or N240 billion in September this year. The government is currently spending N6.9 billion monthly for 200,000 youths enlisted in different empowerment programmes, targeted at tackling increasing youth unemployment estimated at 40 million persons.

Many Nigerians have benefitted from these opportunities. Many skills acquired have been transformed to great income. The government has received many commendations for a job welcome in assuring that the citizens’ welfare is taken as a priority.
