Diop joins Lyon while Liverpool moves to sign Naby Keita
Lyon have completed the signing of Spain U19 midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop. The 20-year-old, who had reportedly been on Tottenham’s radar, joins Bruno Genesio’s side from Celta Vigo for a reported fee of £9.3m, with a further 4m euros in add-ons.
Diop has made a impressive bait during his stay in Celta Vigo. Sky Sport News reported that Lyon tweeted a picture of Diop wearing the club kit and announced a press conference for Tuesday afternoon.
It was further reported that Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas told the club’s official website: “We came to an agreement. He’s a young player. We’re making some high-end investments at the moment.”
On the other hand, Liverpool have confirmed the agreement of a club-record deal to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita next summer.
Sky Sports News understands the Reds will pay the £48m release clause that will allow Keita to join the club, as well as an undisclosed premium.
Keita, according to the news, completed a medical on Monday and will officially join Liverpool on July 1 next year. The fee will also surpass the £39.5m paid to Roma for Mohamed Salah this summer.
