Indonesia expands imports of fruit in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Indonesian government decided to expand the import business in Pakistan by expanding the import for fruit under the agreement of trade on August 25, 2017, according to some of official’s resource.
The agreement had been expanded the time period of fruits from Pakistan that dropped nearly $100 million ever since the implementation of preferential trade agreement (PTA) between Pakistan and Indonesia.
Indonesia’s export had doubled during the post preferential treaty as both sides had held three rounds to review the implementation of the PTA. They had agreed to allow imports of Pakistani kinno (mandarin oranges) from December until April.
Previously, they were allowed only from January to April.
An official source said, “Pakistan has already comprehensively conveyed its concerns regarding unfavourable implementation of the PTA in the last two review meetings.”
“Indonesia acknowledged the concerns rose by Pakistan and agreed to reduce the tariff to zero on two tariff lines of textiles, knitted and woven fabric, which the Pakistani side had demanded in the first review meeting.”
Indonesia would send a trade delegation to Pakistan during Expo Pakistan, which is scheduled to be held from November 9 to 12, 2017 in Karachi, which promotes bilateral trade.
