Government of Uganda and UNICEF to unveil report on the impact of climate related hazards and urbanization on child welfare

UGANDA- Today, Wednesday, 19th of July, the Government of Uganda and UNICEF will launch a report on the impact of climate related hazards and child welfare, at Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) Main Conference Hall between 2:30pm and 4:30pm.

Climate change and urbanization, according to recent observations, represent emerging global challenges that will increasingly and adversely affect the well-being of children in the coming decades, particularly on the poorest and most vulnerable children. As such, a conference like this become needful.

This public notice and invite to this launch is contained in a press release from UNICEF Uganda as published on the African Press Organisation website.

According to the release, the report will the title “Emerging Global Challenges: Climate Related Hazards and Urbanization – Protecting Uganda’s Children,” will, as planned, highlight the impact of climate related hazards and urbanization on child welfare, and  shed light on the impact these mounting challenges have on child welfare.

It is confirmed that the Minister of State Ministry for Relief and Disaster Preparedness, Hon. Musa Ecweru, is billed to be the Guest of Honor. And, according to information gathered, the report will identify key policy recommendations to mitigate the impact of climate related hazards and urbanization on children.

By taking action, the report asserted that “Uganda can invest in child-centered, socially inclusive national programs aimed at preparing for and preventing climate related hazards.
