New York Muslim leaders Condemn Paris Terror Attack
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York Muslim leaders Condemn Paris Terror Attack New York, NY, 1/7/15 – The members of the Muslim Advisory Council to the NYPD (listed below) unequivocally denounce the horrible shooting attack on the offices of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Regardless of motive or rationalization or evidence or excuse, killing twelve innocent people to avenge Prophet Muhammad has no justification and must be condemned without citing any victimhood. At this moment of national grief we ask the French people not to allow this senseless violence perpetrated by three terrorists to put a wedge between peaceful French Muslims and the broader public. We call upon the authorities to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators who should be punished to the full extent of the French law. In a statement the following members said; Daisy Khan- “We send our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones. As Muslims we condemn these actions and are drawing the lines in the sand, the actions of the three perpetrators are antithetical to Islam and no attempts should be made to rationalize it”. Imam Tahir Kukaj- “The cowardly terrorist attack in Paris today is an attack on our beloved Prophet by abusing his teachings. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) does not need bloodshed to honor him. May God’s grace shower upon the families of victims and may God help people of France to overcome this tragedy” Imam Sheikh Moussa Drammeh-“We are and we will always condemn any act of terrorism in the name of Islam” Khwaja Mizan Hassan- “It was a horrendous, unjustifiable and cold-blooded crime.” Contrary to what was apparently said by the killers in the shooting of Charlie Hebdo’s headquarters, it is not the Prophet who was avenged, it is our religion, our values and Islamic principles that have been betrayed and tainted. My heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families. Moustafa Elshiekh- “We stand with the People of France in their grief and determination to apprehend those terrorists and call out on ALL Muslims everywhere to strongly condemn these attacks and fight the ideology that prompted such a tragic event”.
