Homosexuals in Uganda will not be killed
By Godfrey Olukya 17-12-2012
Uganda’s president has assured homosexuals in Uganda that they would not be persecuted or discriminated if they get involved in their same sex affairs affairs secretly.
He said that what bothered him and other Ugandans is the promoting of the
vice openly. He said all this yesterday at the installation of the new Archbishop of Angalican church in Uganda, Most Reverand Stanley Ntagali at Namirembe cathedral in the outskirts of Kampala.
Museveni said, ‘No body will kill or prosecute homosexuals in Uganda. But
they should not promote it.There should be no promotion of homosexuality.’
He said that Uganda will not tolerate the promotion of homosexuality and warned pro-gay activists against such activities.
He wondered why homosexuals want to hold rallies and talk about their vice yet in African society anything to do with sex is supposed to be a secret.
He said, ‘Homosexuality is not new in Africa. It existed even before colonialism but those who practiced it were not killed. One of those who practiced it was even a chief.’
He said that promoting homosexuality publicly is dangerous to the society because it can easily be taken by some people to be a good act.
He said, ‘The issue now is promotion, As if is is a good thing. We can not accept to promote homosexuality.
He said he was happy with the Anglican church in Uganda which has come out to condemn homosexuality.
He said, ‘I am happy with the church for objecting homosexuality.’ he said.
