Ghana is likely to improve on her agricultural out put after getting support from Canada.
This follows a pledge made by Canadian minister of international trade, ED Fast, during his visit to Ghana, that Canada will help Ghana to improve on the agriculture sector.
Fast said, ‘It is very important for a country to be with enough food. Canada will support Ghana in the administration and management of natural resources, with a particular focus on issues around land ownership. This will help Ghana improve food security and contribute to the country’s overall economic growth and development.’
He went ahead to explain that the support which Canada will give to Ghana will go a long way in improving the relationship between the two countries. He added that the support will also contribute towards reforms in Ghana.
He said,’Canadian investment can help anchor and expand Ghana’s reforms, which in turn will create jobs, economic growth and long-term prosperity for people in both countries.’
Fast said that Canada will not only support Ghana. It will also play a role in developing other African countries.
Our government and Canadian businesses will continue to play a significant role in contributing to Africa’s continued growth and economic development.
One of the farmers in Ghana, Kennedy Osega appreciated Canada’s willingness to support Ghana. He said, ‘If we the farmers are supported by the our government and foreign donors, we will definitely produce enough food for domestic consumption and export.
