UNICEF spokesperson Tess Ingram has warned that children returning to north Gaza lack the basics to survive.

Describing the overwhelming devastation in northern Gaza, the official stressed that families returning to the area have been “shocked” by the scale of destruction.

In a video posted on X, Ingram highlighted the immense toll on children, calling the situation “particularly traumatic” for those who have already suffered through months of conflict.

“They are now coming back to communities without water and without healthcare, without the basics that they need to survive,” she added, highlighting the dire humanitarian conditions.

The Israeli war on Gaza has led to the killing of at least 48,189 people and 11,640 wounded, according to the territory’s Health Ministry.

Gaza’s Government Media Office has updated the death toll to at least 61,709 people, stressing that thousands who were missing under the rubble are now presumed dead.

At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023 attacks and more than 200 were taken captive.
