CAIR knocks White House, says “Biden has become as much of a mass murderer of Muslims as Netanyahu”
The White House has announced what it described as the first-ever national strategy to counter Islamophobia, detailing more than 100 steps Federal Officials are taking to curb hate, violence, bias and discrimination against Muslims and Arab Americans.
Building on an earlier plan to counter antisemitism, this strategy comes amid heightened tensions following the Israel-Gaza conflict. Tragic incidents, such as the October 2023 killing of six-year-old Palestinian-American Wadea Al-Fayoume in Illinois, underscore the urgency of this effort.
While reacting to the move, the Council on American–Islamic Relations, a top Muslim civil rights and advocacy group in the United States, commended it but stressed that it was coming too late.
It added that the strategy failed to address the most significant driver of anti-Muslim bigotry which is the U.S.-backed genocide in Gaza.
CAIR said, “Although we and many American Muslims would normally welcome a national strategy to combat Islamophobia, the White House’s long-delayed strategy is too little, too late.
“The 67-page document lays out some positive recommendations related to anti-Muslim bigotry, but it has been released at a time when it cannot make an impact, fails to promise any changes to federal programs that perpetuate anti-Muslim discrimination on a massive scale, such as the Orwellian federal watchlist, and fails to promise an end the most significant driver of anti-Muslim bigotry today: the U.S.-backed genocide in Gaza.
The body descended heavily on the outgoing Biden administration, noting that “President Biden cannot credibly claim to care about Muslims or Islamophobia while supporting the Israeli government’s destruction of mosques, desecration of Qurans, and mass murder of a predominantly Muslim population.
CAIR added, “By funding, arming, and enabling Netanyahu’s war crimes in Gaza, President Biden has become as much of a mass murderer of Muslims as Netanyahu.
“At this late stage, forcing Netanyahu to end the genocide in Gaza is the best and only thing President Biden can do to reduce Islamophobia before he leaves office.”
