Israeli airstrikes in Gaza claim dozens of lives, women, children impacted
At least 25 Palestinians, including children and women, were killed and dozens sustained injuries on Sunday following Israeli airstrikes targeting Gaza City and the Al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, one of the strikes hit Omar Al-Mukhtar Street near the municipal park in Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of 10 civilians and injuries to several others.
In Al-Bureij camp, an airstrike targeted the home of the Abu Hassanein family, leaving 11 people dead, including children and women, and injuring many others.
Earlier in the evening, a similar airstrike in the northern part of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip killed five residents.
The strikes are part of an escalating cycle of violence that has seen heavy bombardments across Gaza, leaving residents in a state of fear and grief.
Emergency services in the region are struggling to respond to the growing number of casualties amid limited resources and ongoing hostilities.
Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours brought the overall death toll since last year to 44,708, the Health Ministry in the enclave said on Sunday.
A ministry statement added that some 106,050 others were also injured in the ongoing assault.
