Several civilians were killed and others injured in an Israeli airstrike late Thursday evening in Beit Lahiya, a city in northern Gaza, local sources report.

The Palestinian news agency, WAFA, reported that Israeli fighter jets targeted a house belonging to the al-Muqayyad family, which had been sheltering displaced members of the Al-Shalfooh family.

The attack caused significant casualties, with fatalities and injuries reported, though the exact numbers remain unconfirmed.

The broader Israeli offensive on Gaza, ongoing since October 2023, has killed at least 44,580 Palestinian lives and left over 105,739 injured. Thousands more are feared trapped beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings, inaccessible to rescue teams due to persistent airstrikes.

International bodies have repeatedly called for an end to the violence. The UN Security Council has urged an immediate ceasefire, while the International Court of Justice has demanded actions to prevent genocide and address the rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis. Despite these appeals, the strikes continue unabated.

The Muslim Parrot reported that Amnesty International accused Israel of “genocide” in the relentless war since October 2023.

The allegations are based on evidence including satellite imagery, fieldwork, eyewitness testimonies, and statements from Israeli officials, which Amnesty said demonstrate actions aimed at destroying Gaza’s population.

Amnesty’s 300-page report pointed at “direct deliberate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructures where there was no Hamas presence or any other military objectives,” the blocking of aid deliveries, and the displacement of 90 percent of Gaza’s 2.4 million people.

Israel and the United States have dismissed Amnesty’s claims as unfounded.
