The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has welcomed the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

In a statement, CAIR lauded the ICC for resisting external pressures and taking decisive action.

“We applaud the decision by the International Criminal Court to reject outside pressure and issue these arrest warrants, including against Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant. Israeli occupation forces directed by these individuals have carried out a more than year-long campaign of indiscriminate slaughter, mass destruction, forced starvation, and ethnic cleansing in Gaza,” the statement read.

CAIR emphasized the need for accountability under international law, describing the actions of Netanyahu and his administration as war crimes.

The organization also urged nations worldwide to enforce the ICC warrants by either barring entry to the accused officials or arresting them if given the chance.

It called for broader accountability, stating, ” any other political leaders who continue to enable and fund the Israeli government’s crimes against humanity – including Biden administration officials – should also be held accountable.”

The ICC’s arrest warrants have sparked a global debate on justice and the role of international law in addressing alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. CAIR’s statement reflects mounting pressure for the global enforcement of these warrants and for justice to be served.
