Qatar: Ministry of Endowments to conduct Hajj application sorting for intending pilgrims
The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs in Qatar has announced that the Haj and Umrah Affairs Department will conduct an electronic sorting process starting from Wednesday to select applicants for Haj this year (1446 AH).
Following the sorting process, successful applicants will receive approval notifications via SMS.
These notifications will allow them to contact approved Haj campaign offices and complete the necessary registration and procedures.
The approval messages will be valid for one week only, during which applicants must finalize their registration using the electronic Haj and Umrah Affairs Management System.
The ministry urged those selected to carefully review the prices and services offered by the approved campaigns. It reported receiving 12,727 applications from individuals intending to perform Haj this year.
Hajj is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, a sacred pilgrimage that every Muslim is obligated to undertake at least once in their lifetime if they are physically and financially able.
Each year, millions of Muslims from around the globe gather in Makkah, located in modern-day Saudi Arabia, to perform this profound spiritual journey.
In 2024, Hajj will take place from June 14th to June 19th according to the Gregorian calendar. The pilgrimage coincides with the sacred Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, the twelfth month in the Islamic lunar calendar. The rituals of Hajj commence on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah and span five to six days, depending on the sighting of the moon.
This pilgrimage not only fulfills a key tenet of Islamic faith but also serves as a powerful reminder of humility, spiritual renewal, and the transient nature of life, reinforcing the bond between the believer and their Creator.
