Israel’s airstrike on the Christian-majority town of Aitou in northern Lebanon resulted in at least 21 casualties, as reported by the Lebanese officials

The targeted building, a three-story structure rented just five days prior, was meant to provide shelter for 25 people displaced from Aitaroun.

The airstrike was part of broader Israeli operations across Lebanon, also targeting towns in the south and Bekaa regions. This escalation follows a significant blow to the Israeli military on Sunday night, when Hezbollah employed a combat drone to strike a Golani Brigade training camp in Binyamina, south of Haifa.

The attack claimed the lives of at least four soldiers and injured over 65 others.

Israeli authorities have vowed to avenge the recent strikes in Haifa and Herzliya, with Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi describing the incident as “difficult and painful.”

The intensity of Israeli strikes on Monday was particularly notable, with dozens of airstrikes hitting 12 towns in the Bekaa region within mere minutes.

The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant displacement and casualties.

Since the start of the invasion on October 1, 2024, there have been reports of over 2,300 lives lost, with the actual toll likely higher. Diplomatic efforts led by the U.S. and France are ongoing to resolve the situation.
