A powerful Israeli airstrike in Beirut eliminated Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, significantly impacting the Iran-backed group amidst escalating Israeli attacks.

The Israeli military confirmed Nasrallah’s death, while Hezbollah acknowledged it without details.

Nasrallah’s demise took a huge toll on Hezbollah and Iran, losing a key ally who strengthened Tehran’s Arab-world influence. US President Joe Biden called it justice for Nasrallah’s victims, including thousands of Americans, Israelis, and Lebanese.

Additional casualties include Abbas Nilforoushan, deputy commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. Ongoing strikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs sent massive smoke clouds over the city.

Hezbollah vowed to continue fighting Israel, supporting Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon. Lebanon’s Prime Minister announced three days of mourning, while Iran’s Supreme Leader promised vengeance.

Lebanon has since declared three days of mourning for Hassan Nasrallah after the longtime Hezbollah leader was killed in an Israeli air strike.

Despite backing the assassination, U.S. President Joe Biden called for “a ceasefire now” in Lebanon, as U.S. lawmakers express strong support for Israel following the death of Hassan Nasrallah in a series of Israeli airstrikes on a Beirut suburb.
