Qiddiya unveils Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium atop stunning 200m-high Tuwaiq cliff
In a groundbreaking announcement on Monday, the Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) revealed the launch of the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium, a cutting-edge venue set to redefine entertainment, sports, and cultural events in Saudi Arabia.
Strategically positioned atop the breathtaking 200m-high Tuwaiq cliff near Riyadh, this iconic stadium reflects Qiddiya’s unwavering commitment to the Power of Play philosophy.
Designed by the distinguished Populous architectural firm, the stadium is poised to be the first fully integrated venue, featuring a distinctive combination of a retractable roof, pitch, and an LED wall. This innovative design not only offers versatility for hosting diverse events but also incorporates a transformative LED wall for live broadcasts, films, and laser shows, promising an immersive experience for every visitor.
Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company, underscored the pivotal role the stadium plays in positioning Qiddiya City as a global entertainment, sports, and cultural hub. Leveraging advanced technology and a novel design, the venue aims to engage spectators through interactive experiences with holographic technology and virtual celebrity interactions.
With a seating capacity of 45,000, the multi-use stadium is set to become the home ground for Al Hilal and Al Nassr football clubs, and it is proposed as a venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup. Furthermore, it will host major regional sports events, including the Saudi King Cup and the Asian Cup. The stadium’s climate-controlled facilities, utilizing an eco-friendly cooling lake for energy efficiency, align with sustainable practices promoted in the region, enabling year-round event hosting.
Projected to attract 1.8 million annual visits, the stadium is a cornerstone of Vision 2030, contributing to the development of a vibrant society, economic growth, and the realization of an ambitious nation.
