The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, reaffirmed Iraq’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause, urging the international community to provide essential humanitarian support to the Gaza Strip.

During a high-level meeting held on Friday with French President Emmanuel Macron, discussions centered around the strategic partnership agreement inked between Iraq and France, as reported by an official statement released by the Parliament Speaker’s office.

Al-Halbousi stressed the imperative of finding a lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue and working toward de-escalation in the conflict-ridden region. He condemned the recent violent military offensive carried out by Israeli occupying forces against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

“The Palestinians must not endure deprivation of their fundamental necessities,” Al-Halbousi emphasized, pointing to the enduring siege enforced by Israeli occupying forces in Gaza.

In addition to the bilateral relations between Iraq and France, the Parliament Speaker emphasized the need to advance the necessary measures outlined in the strategic partnership agreement. The meeting also addressed the collective efforts to reduce tensions in the region and establish a framework for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, who are in dire need.
