A teenage girl sitting inside a Shreveport, La., home Sunday afternoon was fatally shot by a stray bullet from one of several cars racing down the street, according to police.

Landry Anglin, 13, was struck just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday and rushed to Ochsner LSU Health Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to the Shreveport Police Department.

At least two cars appeared to have been chasing each other outside the house when they began shooting, Chief Wayne Smith said during a press conference Sunday afternoon.

One of the bullets flew into the house and struck Landry.

“The senseless act of violence that took the life of an innocent child this afternoon in Shreveport is the epitome of tragic and completely unacceptable. Let this be the loudest of wake up calls to all our public officials, community leaders, and citizens to come together to truly address the crime plaguing our city,” state representative Thomas Pressly said in a statement Sunday night.

“I pledge to take whatever means necessary in working with law enforcement, community leaders, and elected officials on all levels to help end these senseless acts of violence.”

In Ring camera footage obtained by KSLA, rapid-fire gunshots can be heard and a neighbor told the station he heard at least 50.

No arrests have been announced yet.
