Nigeria: LG chairman hosts over 1500 children, distributes iftar, gifts
The Chairman, Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Rasaq Olusola Ajala, on Saturday May 8, 2021, hosted children at his residence at 1 Imoru Street, Idioro Mushin, Lagos, Nigeria.
The children who attended the program in large number were welcomed by the wife of the council boss, Alhaja Muheebat Omokehinde Ajala.
The event commenced with Quizz competition among the children to make the event lively.
While addressing the children at the event, Hon Ajala said the idea of hosting the children was to extend love and compassion to them during the holy month of Ramadan.
He said, “Muslim scholars have been coming to deliver lectures every day on different topics since the commencement of Ramadan and food and drinks were served to everyone who attend the programs.”
“The idea is aimed at showing love to the people especially on this holy month as Allah commanded us in the holy Quran,” he added.
“Saturday’s program was specifically designed for the children to give them a sense of belonging and demonstrate to them that we really care about them,” the LCDA chairman said.
The highlight of the program was the quiz competition among the children in the primary and secondary schools on English Language, Mathematics, Current Affairs and Islamic Studies.
Prizes were given to those who performed excellently in the quiz competition. Other children went home with gifts and food items.
