Kuwait reopens airports, excludes residents from 7 countries
Kuwait has scheduled to reopen its airports for air travels starting from 1st August, 2020, while residents from 7 countries are excluded from its coronavirus travel ban lift.
The Center for Government Communication said in a recent tweet that citizens and residents of the country are allowed to and from Kuwait, except for residents coming from certain seven countries.
The seven countries include Bangladesh, Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Iran and Nepal.
Kuwait suspended all international flights to and from the country in early March to curb the spread of coronavirus, with the exception of repartration flights.
The daily reported that civil aviation authorities in late May planned to implement a gradual resumption of commercial flights with government approval, which will be implemented in three phases.
A national daily reported a couple of days ago that Kuwait has secured an agreement with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) to provide the country with enough COVID-19 vaccine for 800,000 people once available.
Health Minister Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah said the government would cover 50 percent of the country’s vaccine needs once the second shipment arrives from manufacturing companies working with GAVI.
As of 29th July, Kuwait has reported 66,529 cases and 445 deaths from the coronavirus.
