Explosion, fire engulf Los Angeles, 11 firefighters injured
Not less than 11 firefighters have been severely injured in the Los Angeles fire.
The fire incident which was reported on Sunday May 17, 2020, was sparked by an explosion at a hash oil manufacturer in downtown Los Angeles, and spread across several buildings.
The firefighters suffered several degrees of injury and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
At least one truck was damaged in the explosion, aerial footage showed it with blackened windows and debris on its roof.
Los Angeles Fire Department Captain, Erik Scott, said, “A significant explosion shook the neighbourhood.”
He added that, “As the first responders arrived, they saw firefighters emerge from the building with burns and other injuries.”
Mayor Eric Garcetti said on his Twitter handle, “My thoughts are with our brave @LAFD firefighters.”
“Closely tracking this situation as we continue to get more information.” he added.
